1.What kinds of crafts do you do?

I grab my camera and my creativity appears. I observe life and catch beautiful short moments in photographs.

 I call this activity “cropping the world”. Then I use my computer and software for photographers and do post processing on my photographs. I can do it for hours :)

2.Where do you create your works?

I love photographing in the open air. When I
photograph for my pendants or still life, I also use my room and basic equipment. I haven’t got my own workshop, but I dream about it.

 


3.What (if anything) in your workspace inspires you?

The earth is my workspace, so almost everything inspires me. Mostly nature, people, human emotions, simple little things around me

4. What kind of materials, tools do you use most often? How do you store them? 

My main tool is a Nikon DSLR and several lenses. My favourite lens in Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 and I also love to use the macro adapter. My photographs are printed by a professional lab on premium acid-free, archival paper, that has a great finish, and beautiful colours. I hang them in frames on the walls, pin to a pin board or fridge and use as presents for my friends :) I also use jewellery supplies to create wearable art.

5. How do you organize your workspace? Do you have any organization tip/tool/tricks that can help others improve their workspace?

I shouldn’t give any advice. I work in a “creative mess” ;)

6. What is the one favourite thing in your craft room?

My camera!

7. If you could change one thing in your craft room what would it be?

I would like to have my own photography workshop with huge windows, white wooden floor and cozy interior. I also dream about better and better equipment: new camera, bright lenses, big monitor...

I asked the owner to say few words about herself :) 

My name is Aneta, I'm owner of 'Stitchinnetka'.
I'm a maker, crafter,sewer, photographer, gardener,chef etc...but most of all mom, that is totally inspired to create by kids and for kids.

My little inspirational crowd of 4 kids motivates me to work every day, they fill me with fantastic ideas and a tremendous drive to keep making more creations.
I love anything handmade, process and product.
I'm hopping to engage children in that act of making, let them appreciate our fantastic ability to change our dreams, imagination into reality.

I have been making designs for kids, mostly fabric banners, bags,notebooks, toys and clothing. I absolutely love fabric prints,and by making everyday objects I would love to expose kids to interesting and cheerful designs. Everybody, especially kids,should have life filled with great colors and patterns.

1.What kinds of crafts do you do?

I was born and raised in Poland where I have learned many different crafts: sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery.
My biggest passion is designing and sewing for kids, and for that reason my Etsy shop came to live.

My kids are my biggest inspiration and motivation to design more, they put a lot of requests for new designs and crafts all the time.
I hope one day to finally start making kids clothing. 

For now,apart for making inventory for my store per special requests of my two daughters I do love making unique and fancy dress-up clothing for girls. As it comes to my boys, they only request t super hero masks and muffins.

2.Where do you create your works? 

Most of my works I create in my little studio room at night or early mornings, that involves lots of cutting and machine sewing.
Having kids, really makes me manage my time in a very particular way.

They tought me how to fit the most amount of work in short blocks of time. The most intensive work I have to do when they are in bed.
Work that I can do without using sewing machine or iron, I will try to schedule for late afternoon, when a couch in the living room becomes my creative center. That way I can hang out with my family, watch a movie or a show. I truly love that creative spot:). One of the great perks of owning your business. I can choose when and how I want to work.

3.What (if anything) in your workspace inspires you?

Definitely my computer is a tremendous source of inspiration and motivation. That's where I store my photos, internet finds, favorite blogs etc. 

Besides that, my big inspiration is my sewing desk and inspirational wall where I pin my special little finds, pictures that my kids draw, ends of trims, little finds from small and big trips etc. 

Also my fabric stashes are giving me a lot of ideas what to make next. Just a simple act of organizing them in groups of color or patterns create next idea for a great project. 

But I think rewording inspiration is making special gifts for birthdays, that is super exciting motivation. I love giving kids a very unique and personalized creations that bring sparkles in their eyes.

4. What kind of materials, tools do you use most often? How do you store them? 

I work mostly with fabric, many different colors, mostly cotton and felt. My shelves and closet are filled with tons of colors and pattern. I can openly admit that I do have a fabric obsession, and I can't leave a craft store without at least one new addition to my collection.

Besides fabric, I work a lot with embroidery floss. I truly love hand sewing, it is a beautiful calming process of meditation. I try to design more items that involve hand sewing. 

It's a great way to add uniqueness and special magic to my creations.

Since I sew a lot , sewing machine is my #1 tool. I use it pretty much everyday. And that applies to scissors (that I never can have too many), rotary cutter, pins and needles. I store all of that on my sewing desk, easily accesible and ready to use 24/7.

For some reason, I don't like putting my tools away.

I feel like having them out in my studio, creates the need to make something new all the time. 

5. How do you organize your workspace? Do you have any organization tip/tool/tricks that can help others improve their workspace? 

Since my studio is pretty small being organized is very important. I always look for animprovements and new tricks.
So far I love containers!
I think I will never have enough of those. Especially clear plastic boxes, size of a shoe box, are my favorite.

That's where I store my pre cut pieces of fabrics for specific designs, trims, buttons etc. It so easy and convenient to stuck them up (saving space)and find the right project piles in no time. 

As it comes to storing fabrics, I'm a big fan of IKEA style cubical shelves, great way to organize fabric by colors, prints etc. 

I'm visual person, so I do like to see most of my materials out in open. That keeps me inspired and updated on what I have.

6. What is the one favourite thing in your craft room? 

I love my desk with all its creative plies of projects in progress, my kids' drawings, little inspirational trinkets. I love its energy that allows my creativeness bloom. No borders and restrictions here, pure acceptance of unfolding process of turning imagination into reality.

 
7. If you could change one thing in your craft room what would it be? 

  

I would be absolutely happy, if I had powers to make some drastic changes in my craft room.
My wish list is pretty long, but if that has to be only one thing I would make my creative space 8 times bigger with 10 times more windows. I love natural light for its energizing powers and the best photo effects.

I love shooting photos for my creations in natural light and so that way I would have a permanent shooting spot in front of nice big window. 

Also my kids love to hang out with me in my studio, so having a bigger space would allow me to fit a couch and table just for them. My kids are a part of my creative process, so they need to have their space in my craft room as well.

1.What kinds of crafts do you do?

 
My craft is traditional crochet and knitting. I learned it from my grandmother and mother, who of course treated these tools in the traditional ways, creating sweaters, hats and scarves and sometimes other parts of a warderobe, which during Poland's crisis years served to supplement one's common clothes. 

Nowdays we don't have any problems with getting accessories. Just the opposite: you can very cheaply (I don't know how they do this) buy anything.
When I started my Etsy adventure I had to honestly answer a few questions.

I wondered what I can make the best, what I am a master at, and what I can make so that the object is original and exceptional. As you can see lately I have been making crocheted wrist warmers.

2.Where do you create your works? 

All of my goods I create at home, after my job at the theatre. 

I don't have a special workshop. I also don't have a beautiful niche where all my yarns and fibers are stored, organized according to color. 

My workshop is a single bed on which I sit cross-legged surrounded by a ton of baggies with threads and my most important thing - my laptop, on which, during work I watch movies and shows. 

And that is what I really like: crochet and movies.
On this photo you can see this chaos. It's too bad the picture is not that great, for which I apologize to the readers.

3.What (if anything) in your workspace inspires you?

My laptop and the pages I look at.

4. What kind of materials, tools do you use most often? How do you store them? 

Of course I use knitting needles and crochet hooks. I store them in a cermaic double vase. I also use yarn , mostly cotton, which I store in boxes and on the bed on which I have less and less room to sit.

 

5. How do you organize your workspace? Do you have any organization tip/tool/tricks that can help others improve their workspace? 

Hm… As I already mentioned my workspace is not organized. So if I would give advice it would be your space should be so that you would work most pleasantly, and not so it would look nice on pictures.

6. What is the one favourite thing in your craft room? 

My laptop.

7. If you could change one thing in your craft room what would it be?

House. I'd like to have a house. Right now I live in a rented bachelorette and this is what I would change.

  I asked her, "tell me few words about yourself" 

and this what she came up with ;) 

I am a painter - and a long, long time ago I finished my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. Thankfully I have forgotten everything I learned. :-)

Actually I have supported myself through my art my whole life, and have mostly worked as a freelancer. I somehow managed to work for wages for only a few short years which were interesting years, because I worked in a theatre and got acquainted with large scenery and tons of interesting people.

I am also a scenic and costume designer - but for the last few years I have preferred to work with small independent and "young" theaters rather then large institutional ones.

Sometimes I do workshops for kids and young adults, which I enjoy tremendously provided the kids are not mine and the workshops don't last longer then three hours...

I also do some design work - I make posters (most often theatrical), illustrations for book and book covers.

 

I have an adult son and five cats, but other then that I am normal.

1.What kinds of crafts do you do?

My main daily occupation is painting - on whatever, but mostly on paper. I also paint on old boards, pieces of wall, fabric - I like to experiment with different materials. I'm crazy about recycling, I collect everything that may lend itself to being painted, or could be transformed in a different manner and the workshops I lead are often centered around the creative reworking of various leftovers.

2.Where do you create your works? 

I try to work in my tiny workshop, unfortunately most often my workshop becomes storage and is so messy, that practically - I work in the entire house (in the summer it's most pleasant to work on my terrace) which means a mess everywhere.

3.What (if anything) in your workspace inspires you? 

If I can get to the table top in my workshop and make a small section of empty space on it - it's very inspiring.

4. What kind of materials, tools do you use most often? How do you store them? 

I use everything and find everything useful - mostly it's paper and watercolors, but I also like to sew, crochet, glue, whittle, cut out, and string beads....
Storing everything is very hard, most often I store my treasures in ever growing stacks. My whole house is covered in Very Important Mountains of Everything and I don't let others touch them.
 

Luckily I have concerned friends, who march into action from time to time and despite my protests, clean up.

5. How do you organize your workspace? Do you have any organization tip/tool/tricks that can help others improve their workspace? 

Organization is not my favorite word.
But I try, really try - to sort, place in cartons, file folders, jars, label everything so it won't get lost, sadly - after each clean-up I have to look harder to find things, so I can't really give any advice, I could harm instead of helping! 

One thing I know for sure - guard your paintbrush rinsing jars full of water from the cats.

6. What is the one favourite thing in your craft room?

Even if I had a favorite thing - I probably would not be able to find it.

7. If you could change one thing in your craft room what would it be?  

Space - that is the thing I need the most - if I could I would enlarge my workshop by several square meters...

1.What kinds of crafts do you do?

I make greeting cards in a very old technique called quilling of paper filigree.
It is all about paper strips that are handrolled, handshaped and glued together creating whatever you want.

I first saw quilled cards a couple years ago and it was love from first sight. I bought starter kit and become a "crafter"

2.Where do you create your works?

I have a crafting studio in my apartment... Ahhm, well it is a little corner in our living room ;) Sharing a one bed apartment with a crafter is not easy... I had annexed our dining table and from now I will call it my crafting table :)

3.What (if anything) in your workspace inspires you? 

This may sound a little bit strange, but in front of my crafting table I have large balcony window, and when I don't have an idea or I need a break, I just look out the window with a mug of hot coffee in my hand. It is really relaxing.

4. What kind of materials, tools you use most often? How do you store them?

Quilling is a paper art, so paper is my main craft material. I have all range of paper sheets but this is easy to store. I usually put them into a big heaps on my shelves. More challenging are quilling paper strips.

I make my cards from 3 mm wide strips. When they are new and unused You can pin them to the polystyrene board or if you prefer to the cork board, but the problem is when you have lots of 3 mm wide scraps, so I keep them in a separate cello bags which I store in a large tin. 

I also need a good quality PVA glue, lot of craft scissors and of course quilling needle :)

5. How do you organize your workspace? Do you have any organization tip/tool/tricks that can help others improve their workspace?

I rather disorganise my working space. You can call it a new order. 

But when I take a couple days off and everything is in place, it looks really organized. My papers are in big cello bags, my tools are in metal buckets on the shelf.

6. What is the one favourite thing in your craft room?

It is hard to call her a thing but my cat Szisza is my favourite helper. She always know how to interrupt me and avoid my anger :)

 

7. If you could change one thing in your craft room what would it be?

More space!!!
